If you enjoy travelling to Spain, Alicante is a city you can’t miss!

Situated on the Southeastern coast of Spain, Alicante is a beautiful city with a long and fascinating history which left a visible trace in its amazing monuments and streets.

What to visit.

Castle of Santa Bárbara. The biggest medieval fortress in Spain will astound you: built on top of the Benacantil mountain, it is the best place to enjoy a fantastic view of the city.

Despite its Arabs origins, the castle shows only a few parts dated back to that time as it has been renovated many times.

Nowadays it hosts a museum about the history of Alicante and a number of exhibitions.

Casco Antiguo. The old town is a small and beautiful village in the city centre, where the authentic ancient beauty is very well preserved. Through staircases and alleys, you can breath the real flavor of Alicante.

Basilica of Santa María. It is the oldest church in the city, built in the 13th century over a mosque.

Its main feature are the twin towers: even though they look exactly the same, the one on the right was built in the 14th century, while the left one is from the 19th century.

Museums. Alicante is full of museums for art lovers: the Archaeological Museum, where you can discover the origins of the city, the Contemporary Art Museum, which displays works of the most famous contemporary Spanish artists, the Hogueras Museum, dedicated to Alicante’s biggest festival, the “Hogueras de San Juan“, and many more.

And what if you want to spend some time on the beach?

Well, you are on the Costa Blanca, so called for the long and white sandy beaches, so this is the right place!

Apart from Postiguet Beach, a crowded beach situated next to the old town, there are many Blue Flag beaches very close to the city and easy reachable by car.

Also, you can go for a boat trip to enjoy the coast or go to Tabarca Island, very small island which feels like a completely different world. Definitely recommended!

Let’s stop at Mercado Central, where you can find the best food ever and try some local specialities!
