CILS B1 Cittadinanza: A Research

Are you studying towards the CILS B1 level for citizenship?

The CILS B1 level for citizenship is one of the official exams necessary to apply for the Italian citizenship.

The CILS certifications are released by the University For Foreigners of Siena.

As we are a CILS centre, we regularly prepare students for all the exams.

In 2018, a new exam has been added to the standard ones: the CILS B1 Cittadinanza, tailored on those who want to apply for the Italian citizenship.

Since then, we have worked hard in order to provide the best preparation for our students.

Who teaches our CILS courses and lessons?

Some of our teachers are CILS examiners and specialised in the exam’s preparation.

Barbara is one of them and she decided to focus on the CILS B1 Cittadinanza exam for her Master’s degree thesis!

She is currently attending the ITALS II Master Degree of Ca’Foscari University of Venice, one of the top qualifications to teach Italian to foreigners.

To be precise, Barbara is working on the writing section of the exam.

She chose this topic because writing in Italian is definitely one of the biggest difficulties for students.

The tasks of the CILS B1 Cittadinanza exam are about specific topics and require a good confidence in writing.

Moreover, candidates are asked to write mostly formal emails: this implies using the right language, some fixed expressions and be able to structure a formal text.

How is she working?

Barbara started her research collecting useful data about the students’ problems and perceptions.

After putting together these data with her observations she kicked off her research, which is still in progress.

The research is being conducted in group courses as well as individual lessons.

The goal is getting a clear view of the CILS students’ problems and finding the right strategy to make them succeed in the writing tasks.

This is an outstanding work!

And it’s shaping up to be a guarantee of high quality for all our CILS B1 Cittadinanza students.
