What to see

Cagliari is a city rich in culture, so there’s a lot of places worth to be visited. First of all the Santuario and Basilica of Bonaria, good for a visit and also to seat down in the step and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Then the Cathedral of Santa Maria, with its lavishly decorated interior with gilt, marble, statuary and iconography. If you like to go trekking you can’t miss Monte Urpinu, and if you want to swim Poetto beach is just waiting for you.

Get lost in the temple of good food, San Benedetto market: there you will find local products and daily fresh fish. You can’t miss Sabores, a deli with all sorts of sardinian gastronomic treats, including local cured meats, cheeses of all sorts, wines from the region. If you don’t feel like cooking, then try seafood at Lord Nelson, a lovely, family-run place with traditional, well-prepared food and a stellar wine list, or why not a pizza? Pizzeria Federico Nansen is a recommended place to try a real pizza experience.

How to get there

Cagliari is connected to the most important european cities thanks to the Elmas – Mario Mameli international airport. A shuttle bus connects the airport to the city center in Piazza Matteotti, situated between the port and the train station. Moreover, taxis and rent-a-car services connect the airport to downtown.
