Have you ever tried espinacas con garbanzos?

Espinacas con garbanzos is a simple and delicious Spanish recipe.

It combines spinach (espinacas) with a very important ingredient of the Spanish cuisine: chickpeas (garbanzos).

To be precise, this dish is originally from Andalucía, an amazing southern Spanish region.

If you have been there, you must have tasted this specialty!

In Seville espinacas con garbanzos is a typical tapa.

Since it is a comforting stew, it is particularly good in winter but you can enjoy it al year long.

Unlike other traditional dishes, this one is also very easy to make at home.

Let’s see what we need to prepare it!

300 g de espinacas –> 300 g of spinach

500 g de garbanzos –> 500 g of chickpeas

3 rebanadas de pan frito –> 3 slices of fried bread

3 dientes de ajo –> 3 cloves of garlic

3 cucharas de pimentón dulce –> 3 spoons of paprika

1 cucharilla de comino molido –> 1 teaspoon of ground cumin

2 cucharas de vinagre –> 2 spoons of vinegar

1/2 vaso de agua –> 1/2 glass of water

Aceite de oliva virgen extra –> extra vergin olive oil

Sal –> Salt

Now we are ready to make it!

Boil the spinach in water for 5 minutes and drain it.

Fry the slices of bread in extra virgin olive oil until brown.

Fry the cloves of garlic and put them aside.

In a large pan, put some oil and heat it, add spinach, ground cumin and salt.

Blend the slices of bread and the cloves of garlic with vinegar and water, then add this mixture to the spinach.

Add the chickpeas and cook for 20 minutes.

Plate your espinacas con garbanzos, drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil and add some paprika on top.
