How do we say happy birthday in Italian?

As in many other languages, in Italian is possible to use different phrases and fixed expressions: either if you want to write them on a lovely card or wish a happy birthday in person, they will make the difference.
First of all, it’s important to learn words and expressions that you will definitely hear (and use) when a birthday is approaching:
Il festeggiato/la festeggiata –> Birthday boy/birthday girl
La festa di compleanno –> The birthday party
Il regalo –> The present
La torta –> The cake
Le candeline –> The candles
Oggi è il mio compleanno –> Today it’s my birthday
Oggi compio 30 anni –> Today I’m turning 30
And now let’s see how to wish happy birthday!
Tanti auguri! –> Many wishes!
Buon compleanno! –> Happy birthday!
Tanti auguri di buon compleanno! –> Many wishes for your birthday!
Cento di questi giorni! –> Many happy returns!
All these expressions are equally used and lovely, so you can choose the one that sounds best to you and use it to wish the best!
Have you already used one of them? Which one is your favourite?
