Do you know how to say I love you in Spanish?

If you want to say I love you in Spanish, there are many expressions that you can use. And if you have a Spanish partner, family and friends, this is quite an important phrase to learn!

As for other languages, there are different ways to express love that depend on who you are talking to and what you want to say.

So it’s good practice trying to learn expressions paying attention to the exact meaning and use, otherwise the risk is using a phrase that might be grammatically correct but not appropriate to the situation.

Let’s see!

The first two expressions that probably you have heard hundreds times are Te quiero and Te amo. They might seem exactly the same, but are actually different: normally we use “Te quiero” with family and friends, whilst we use “Te amo” with partner and close family.

Another way to express love is Te adoro, which is quite a romantic one, similar to Te amo. Also, you can say Estoy enamorado/enamorada de ti (I’m in love with you) or Eres el amor de mi vida (you are the love of my life). That’s super sweet!

And now other lovely expressions to use!

On top of the phrases above, there are other useful ones that you can say in different situations. Improving your knowledge is really good to progress with your Spanish and feel more confident when speaking!

Me caes bien –> I like you

Me gustas –> I like you

Te necesito –> I need you

Estoy loco/loca por ti –> I’m crazy about you

Te quiero con todo mi corazón –> I love you with all my heart

Eres mi media naranja –> You are my other half

All very nice expressions, aren’t they? And now it’s time to use them with your beloved ones!
