Our DITALS II training programme covers all the main topics in order to help candidates study towards the exam.
Considering that the DITALS II exam is not only based on theory but consists of some practical sections, we include many individual or group activities to put into practice what we study.
Let’s see what we talk about in more depth!
The course starts with a presentation and discussion about the different teaching approaches and methods, with a focus on the communicative and humanistic methods.
In the first part of the course, we also go through motivation, cognitive styles and how to adapt our method to different learners. Another important aspect is the teacher’s role: how to manage space, gesture, time in a classroom.
On top of that, we will examine the interaction between teacher and students as well as between students, in order to better plan our lessons and encourage the participation of all the students.
Moving forward, we will add some more specific topics.
A very important one is the four abilities and how to develop them through the right activities: we will focus on techniques and think about which are best to work on each ability.
Besides, we will see how to use authentic material, such as articles from newspapers, magazines, songs, movies and much more.
Starting from an input, we will work on operative models, for example building the “Unità Didattica” (teaching unit).
And that’s not all!
How to correct mistakes is a crucial point: taking into consideration the student’s history and progress in building his own language, we will see some techniques to correct mistakes in a constructive way.
In addition, we will analyse the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and see how to plan a syllabus based on it.
Sociolinguistics will be another important topic to go through, as well as pragmatics.
And, last but not least, we will work on some of the most common Italian textbooks for foreigners: we will identify their teaching approach analysing the index and then we will compare them.
